File: A Primer

This kiosk animation was created using Keynote’s built-in tools for automating digital presentations.

It is a new manifestation of File that instructs the user on attaining whiteness.

File: A Primer also serves as an introductory webinar for an artist’s book, File: A User’s Manual (in progress).

File is a process work inspired by agile methodologies.

The File is a stack of technical documentation about itself. It begins as a discussion on the contingency of digital files and grows into a cipher for the artist-worker.

The work is ongoing and also succeeded by File: A Primer and an in-progress artist book, File: A User’s Manual.

For more context, read the curatorial text by Nora N. Khan at left gallery and “Doc 091” at Interlude Docs.

The File can be accessed here.
